The First Baptist Church of Chicago

I'm new

I'm New in Chicago

I talked to a former member of First Baptist last year who came to Chicago after World War II, she remembers that because Japanese Americans were not allowed to gather on the street in groups of two or more, First Baptist was the only place that they could gather without drawing attention to themselves.  I told her that I saw the pictures of the young people square dancing in the gym and that I remember that Pastor Jituso Morikawa said that he was the pastor to whoever needed his services.  Sixty years later, we are still that kind of church.  First Baptist is the church home for people from twenty different states and countries.  Our guests have included people from Australia, Brazil, Burma, Canada, Ghana, Ireland, South Korea, Spain, and Norway.

There are no strangers at First Baptist, our doors of fellowship in Christ are open to everyone!
